Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I taste more then 2 flavors?
We would love to accommodate you; however, since we custom bake each cake, we have to limit the selections. Tasting two flavors will give you a good idea of the quality and sophistication of our products. In addition, more than 2 flavors is really overwhelming for the taste buds without a palate cleanser. If you still desire to have more than 2 flavors, we will happily bake additional flavors for you at a charge of $15 per additional flavor.
2. How far in advance should I schedule my tasting?
All of our tastings consist of custom baked flavors, so we require a minimum of 3 days notice for all cake tastings. We book up far in advance, so it's best to call and reserve your tasting as soon as possible.
3. Do I need to leave my credit card information?
No, our cake tastings are complimentary. However, since we do bake the tasting flavors custom for you, we ask that if you are going to cancel to give us 3 days notice. If you do not show up for your scheduled tasting and do not call to cancel, we will not be able to accommodate you with another tasting date.
4. Who should I bring to my tasting?
You are welcome to bring as many people as you would like to taste your cake, we recommend that no more then 4 people attend your tasting. Too many opinions can be overwhelming and make your decision more challenging.
5. Can I have my florist put flowers on my celebratory or wedding cake?
We view all our cakes as works of art. We would never presume to attend your party or reception and attempt to finish the decorative elements or arrangements done by the florist or planner. We ask the same respect and consideration for our art. In addition, anyone that touches the cake after delivery creates a sanitation and aesthetic liability. As long as we are assuming that liability, we must insist on supervising the handling and sanitation of the cake.
6. Can fresh flowers be used on your cakes?
Our preference is sugar flowers, especially on wedding cake. They have a more sophisticated and polished look. This also allows us to control the scale, proportion, color and overall size of the flower. If for some reason you have an absolute wish to use fresh flowers then you will be responsible for the purchase of your flowers and must have them available at time of delivery so that we can finish executing our work.
7. Can I bring you a picture of a cake I like and have your replicate it?
We respect the design time and work that goes into creating the cakes seen in magazines and on the web sites of other chefs and bakers. Therefore, we limit our design work to that done by our own staff and associates. We will gladly use your picture as inspiration for the basic design but we do not make copies of other artist's work.
8. Can you ship my cake out of State?
We ship traditional cakes but we do not ship wedding and custom cakes. However, if you really want us to design and create your wedding cake, we would be happy to fly to the destination and make the cake on site.
9. Can you do sheet cakes with my wedding cake?
Sheet cakes are not a service we provide with weddings. If your guest list is larger than 500 we can separate the cake into additional rounds for convenience of cutting. The additional rounds will be filled iced and covered/finished in matching design to the wedding cake and charged per slice at a reduced rate.
10. Can I book a tasting for my wedding when I only have 50 guests attending?
We would be happy for you to come in and taste what we have in our bakery case by the slice. If you sign a contract with us, we will happily reimburse you for the cost of the cake. We limit our custom baking to a minimum of 75 slices
